The owner at this pair of hangouts in the neighborhoods of Los Feliz and Silver Lake is so good to dogs, and her employees are too. You truly get the feeling that they don't see dogs as less than humans. It's a real dog party out in the shady courtyard, where people fuel up on comfort food and dogs are offered water and doggie treats—organic, of course. Parking is tricky at both spots, but valet is cheap. And when the valet guy brings your car back, it'll already be cooled down for you and your dog.

here’s a big sign greeting you as you enter this restaurant that says “there’s no place like Home.” We get the sentiment, but it’s also not entirely true: Home looks like pretty much every other nice neighborhood restaurant in LA. But it's great for doing work at, with plenty of tables, little nooks outside, and most importantly, outlets. The space is filled with lots of foliage and twinkly lights, the food is Italian-ish and affordable, and it’s always full of locals. Also, they do a good brunch.

The hippest brunch spot in this part of town. There's always a line on weekends. FYI: No reservations for brunch (they do take them for other meals) so make sure you prepare for a wait.
