Founded in 1898, it's the oldest museum in North Carolina. It's housed in a cool WPA armory (Works Progress Administration, part of President Roosevelt's New Deal), with a modern addition. Great interactive exhibits for kids.

Cape Fear Museum collects, preserves and interprets objects relating to the history, science, and cultures of the Lower Cape Fear. The Museum makes those objects and their interpretation available to the public through educational exhibitions and programs.

Cape Fear Museum of History and Science is a museum located at 814 Market Street in downtown Wilmington in southeastern North Carolina. Founded in 1898, it is the oldest history museum in the state.
