Forest & Forage House: Finnish wood-fired sauna

Forest & Forage House sits on 11 private acres on Quadra Island, surrounded by mature forest, organic gardens and a large lawn. Beyond the gardens are a traditional Finnish wood-fired sauna, cold plunge and outdoor shower. Designed by architect Rob Wood and built by J. Toelle Construction, its timber frame was made from trees felled and milled on the property. South-facing windows overlook trees and gardens, and the living room has a wood stove. Much of the 20-year-old interior remains original.

The peace of the forest is rejuvenating and the outdoor bath tub for two a great joy. Beautiful hikes, kayaking, mountain biking and whale watching opportunities abound, and on rainy days, an eclectic selection of dvds. a A wonderful place to unplug for a few days. Whales frequently seen from our beach which is a rock hounds paradise No parties. Dunroven is adult oriented ~ no children under the age of 10. Check in time is 3 p.m. Check out time is 10 a.m. Stay a week and the 7th night is free.

A pacific northwest gem! Our family beach house is front row overlooking a rocky beach and mainland mountains. Our ocean view is great for bird and wildlife watching (popular channel for whale commuting as well as the salmon capital of the world). We're close to the Kay Dubois trail which my Grampa made and named after my grandma.
