This wonderful, private little gem is just a few easy walking blocks from plentiful drinking, dining, dispensing, yoga & coffee spots. You will be one block from Woodlawn Park, 2 blocks from a bus and a 5 minute drive from the Alberta Shopping and Arts District. It's all so comfortably close by, but not close enough to disturb your relaxing, sweet retreat. Come have it all while living small in this tiny, artsy home away from home!
This space was built as a Model T Garage in 1926 behind a 1915 bungalow but it has had a face lift and has taken on a new life as a cozy, warm freestanding studio made mostly from reclaimed materials. A "tiny house" if you will, sweetly positioned between fruit trees and a garden sitting area. The sleeping loft comfortably sleeps two and there is a futon below the loft where one can enjoy a book while the other naps above. Occasionally you will hear the trains in the distance which adds a touch of nostalgia and you get to wake to the relaxing clucking and cooing of the neighborhood hens as this area has a nice spattering of urban farms and lots of mature trees. The table pictured here has been replaced with a "garden shed" counter that houses a small, removable basin sink. There is also a rustic, rough hewn armoire to hang clothes and tuck away your backpacks. The little kitchenette corner is stocked with utensils, a two burner cooktop, a mini fridge, a microwave, coffee and a coffee press. The studio's setup is more akin to a cabin, and as many cabins go, there is no bathroom. You will be given a key to the main house so please feel comfortable enough to come in and use the facilities. By the way, it is insulated, well heated, and stocked with plenty of blankets so it is a wonderful, warm hideaway in the fall and winter months as well. Yep, snuggly wifi too. The yard is plentiful with flowers and fruit bearing trees (figs and delicious yellow plums) in the summertime, as well as an array of veggies in the gardens where you can sit amongst the trees and regroup after a hard day at Powells Books. If you intend to bring a pet (or two) please message me BEFORE booking to confirm details and the pet fee. It's within a 5 minute walk from the heart of Woodlawn which has some fantastic spots to shop, drink, dance, and dine: -Firehouse Restaurant, somewhat romantic with good service -Woodlawn Coffee House, for plenty of people watching -Breakside Brewery, to grab a bite and catch up on the game -Grand Army Tavern, have some pork with your...pork : ) -Good Neighbor Pizza, laid back & late night too -P's & Q's Market serves yummy meals and a few grocery items -The Village Ballroom, for Square Dance and Special events -Uptown Cycles, sales and repairs -Portland Girl, spa day anyone? -Greener Grasses, well-rated dispensary -Koken Market, for almost any beer you want, snacks -Café Eleven, art, coffee, lunch & some pastries -Oregon Public House, the nation's 1st nonprofit pub -The Highwater Mark, rock pub with pool & hip hop on last Fridays -Tamale Boy, authentic & delicious with lots of outside seating -Bassato Gelato, 12 rotating flavors+bagels in the morning -HighWheel Mead, open Thurs-Sunday -(Seasonally) Woodlawn Farmer's Market at Woodlawn Triangle, Sat. 10-2 Downtown is a 15 minute drive. The Alberta Arts District is also just minutes away so you can hop on a bike and be right in the middle of the jam-packed Last Thursday Art Walk or make a day of it with shopping, dinner and some delicious ice cream from the infamous Salt & Straw. Then come "home" to your quieter retreat where you can just relax and lay in the hammock.....ahhhh. And as the area is well surrounded by beautiful, mature trees, you may decide to enjoy dinner in the love seat swing under the pergola and watch the evening sky. It is a wonderful theatre for watching small bats do their sky routine in the distance. Flying in? This spot is only 10 minutes from the airport. And while in Portland, you may want some wheels! Well, this location is very close to Zipcars and you can sign up with them or Car2go on their sites in advance of your stay. Check out Turo or Getaround to grab a vehicle to tool But if you want to explore the city on two wheels, Everybody Bike Rentals or Ebikes ( electric bike rentals) are the spots to hit first (10 min. by bus). They provide helmets and locks too! ***If you don't see the dates available on the calendar that you had hoped for or if you are traveling with more than two people, please check out my other listing (#95313) which is also a private studio at the same location. It is larger and complete with a private entry and bathroom. Just ask me! Parking is close and the livin' is pretty easy. So please get that profile completed, then contact me and come kick up your heels and stay a while! Oh! P.S. Please read the description, house rules and post a pic of you in your profile beforehand just so that everyone is on the same page. Much appreciated. Cheers!

With just the right amount of space for two, this studio has everything that makes a house feel like a home: a fireplace, a full kitchen, King Memory foam Bed, oak floors, handmade furniture, cable tv with HBO, and a private entrance.
This studio is a welcoming space in the center of an historic neighborhood that offers a unique perspective on the city of Portland. Ask me for in-depth info on where to go and what to see in the Irvington neighborhood, the Alberta Arts District, and other parts of Northeast Portland! Over the years, I’ve gotten to know quite a few incredible places to eat, drink, shop, and explore here. Located at the hub of some of Portland’s most interesting neighborhoods, this studio places the whole city at your fingertips. But adventure can be tiring, and the studio offers ample opportunity to put your feet up. Portland can get nippy at night, and a real wood fireplace, stocked with firewood from locally harvested and dried urban hardwood trees, is the perfect way to warm up and feel at home. The apartment has high ceilings and a great fireplace; it’s minimally decorated but has all the important things: a king bed, a couch with a coffee table, a small desk, a dresser and extra shelves, and a kitchen table. The kitchen comes fully stocked with the essentials for cooking a real meal, and the bathroom always has towels, soap and shampoo. The space is located on the first floor of a large 1910 home, which was converted to an eight-plex in the 1940s to adapt to the demands of WWII. I have lived in Irvington for 14 years and Portland for 25, and this house is one of the most unique that I’ve seen.
The Irvington neighborhood, now only a ten minute bike ride from downtown, was once a trolley-car suburb to the just-fully-developed West side. Designated a historic district by the National Register of Historic Places in 2010, Irvington is filled with early 20th century homes that have been preserved in their original states. Irvington has become a livable hub of Northeast Portland as a whole, with shops and restaurants of all kinds, within walking distance, surrounding the neighborhood. Irvington proper boasts more than a few community and culinary destinations of its own.

I have a total of five rooms, each listed separately in this unique mixed-use building where I also live and work. You will enter just past the Ned Ludd front patio via a private, secure, gated entrance off of MLK at NE Failing street and follow the stairway up to the second level. This is the larger of the three rooms. Each room is newly refurbished and furnished with beautiful, responsibly sourced tropical salvage out of Indonesia and locally re-purposed wood/trim doors and windows. Your private room comes with a window, a wall-mounted flatscreen t.v., small refrigerator, microwave, toaster oven, free wi-fi an armoire, an ornate sink carved out of stone, down pillows, down comforters, a king-sized posturepedic mattress and zen colored walls that might just make you think you are in... Bali?

New restaurants, shops, boutiques and businesses are popping up all over. Whether you are looking for a place to lay your head for the night while you get out and explore during the day, or you are just looking for a place you can hole up and relax, we've got you covered. Our stunning guest house has everything you need! Revel in the luxurious, lofted queen bedroom, where vaulted ceilings & large windows deliver floods of natural light. Cook a special meal over wine in the modern kitchen, or indulge in complimentary Stumptown coffee & organic cream! Walk 1 block to bustling Division St to restaurants, coffeeshops, foodcarts, & other urban adventures! Escape to the forests of Mt Tabor, just a 10-minute walk! Enjoy privacy- guesthouse is at the back of property :-)
The loft is located in our backyard in Southeast Portland. While we are only steps away if you need us, the space is very private. In fact, guests report that they forget they are in the middle of the city when they stay in our space! We live in a desirable and fun neighborhood, and parking can be tight! Guests usually find parking within a block or two of our house. At night or during busy times of the day, parking can be found within two short blocks. Guests may feel free to use our driveway for loading/unloading. We do not have a TV in the guesthouse, but offer excellent wifi access.
Our neighborhood has everything you will need, mostly within a five-minute walk! And if you want to visit a different part of the city, there is convenient public transportation around the corner. Check out excellent coffeeshops blocks away (Good Coffee and Stumptown), delicious and intimate restaurants (Bete Lukas, Tasty & Daughters, Petite Provence, Fern Kitchen), or walk up to Mt. Tabor Park. If you're into yoga, there's an awesome space (Yoga Union) around the corner.

5 miles from Airport. Approx. $15 Uber or Lyft ride! Virus cleaning precautions: read description to see what measures we are taking to create a healthy stay. Cozy bedroom with warm, lively colors. This house was featured in Portlandia's 2014 season in the hilarious "Rent-It-Out," sketch! Perfect for relaxing after a day of exploring Portland. We have a 5 y.o. and are in and out of the house from 8am-8pm. Quiet hours are 10pm-7am and are truly quiet.
Virus cleaning precautions: staying healthy is important to us and you are included in that! We are taking extra measures to sanitize all surfaces: doorknobs, light switches, faucet handles, anything hands would touch many times/day. Additionally and always, sanitized and fresh linens are stocked including a new duvet cover for every guest. Please take advantage of Airbnb’s more lenient cancellation policy if you are sick and need to cancel. Likewise, we promise to cancel reservations if we fall ill. Thank you for your attention and care while we all work to create a clean and healthy environment for all of us. I am pleased and excited to announce that this house has been graced by none other than Fred Armisen and Carrie Brownstein of Portlandia for a sketch entitled "Rent-It-Out!" More Portlandia photos coming soon... Private room with Queen size bed in my home near Alberta Arts district. Surrounded by gardens and artistic works, this home is a gallery and gathering space for special events such as concerts, yoga classes, art openings and other happenings. This is the Cully neighborhood with large, sprawling lots full of gardens and mature trees and walking distance to all of the art, food and music you desire on Portland's famous Alberta Street. Near major bus lines and MAX, this town is known for it's simple and efficient public transportation. Our neighborhood has it all though: art galleries, wine bars, sake house, sushi, Thai Food, African food, Ale houses, a plethora of restaurants, music venues, parks, shopping, art and food carts, tea houses, dessert spots, bike rental, bike paths, walking paths, unique local-made clothing/jewelry, vintage second-hand store, theatre, New Season's grocery store offering conscious, organic choices, and a couple of pizza pubs and food carts. The bedroom is spacious with about 180 sq. ft, a queen size bed, other sitting options, good light, bamboo floor, and a shared restroom just a few feet away. During your stay, you may encounter private vocal or guitar lessons (you are invited to book a private session!), concerts open to the public (and you!) or an occasional facilitated public event. We’ll make sure you get a heads-up and an invite. The house has many common spaces to enjoy such as the living room, front porch and garden in the front yard. Here you can expect a peaceful, relaxing stay or getaway. The house is clean, tidy, bright and welcoming. Currently I am showing ceramics, photographs and paintings. More to come! I am a ceramic artist and have works on display. The pictured baby grand piano is used by Portland vocalist Jonathan Brinkley to teach voice lessons from time to time. His sessions are playful, inspiring, refreshing, and benefit more than just singing. He is available should you decide you'd like an impromptu lesson!
We’re close to Alberta St., NE 42nd Ave, NE Fremont and NE Killingsworth and only a few miles from Mississippi St.. Tons to do/see/eat/play and explore in our hood!

In the middle of a restaurant, brewery, coffee, and Portlandia paradise! This private one bedroom apartment is located in the vibrant Hawthorne District, considered to be one of the best neighborhoods for tourists in the city! Close to everything! I am a food blogger (pizza) here in Portland, and love sharing my favorite spots in the city. See our reviews! Our guests share all you need to see before booking! :) Please inquire for dates more than 6 months out. We look forward to hosting you!
The lower apartment is fresh, clean, modern, new construction with lots of light. We welcome you as our guest(s). Enjoy a fresh cup of local coffee while sitting by the fireplace. APARTMENT: roughly 700 square feet legal Alternative Dwelling Unit (ADU) in the lower level of our 1911 Bungalow home. Spacious for solo travelers or couples, and can also accommodate up to 4 guests. The apt is under our living space, has sound mitigation, and includes its own entrance, bedroom, bathroom, kitchen, and living area. Brand new concrete floors throughout, with insulation underneath. BEDROOM: new queen bed, next to full bath, fresh sheets, blankets, luggage rack, dresser, night stands, and wall heater. BATHROOM: shower and bathtub, shampoo, soap, lotion, hair dryer, towels, and more. KITCHEN: full sink, full electric range, range hood, fridge, microwave, basic cookware, glasses/dishes/silverware, and a coffee machine. Everything is new. Perfect for long or short stays. The sleeper sofa folds out to a queen sized bed. SOUND: Our family of 3 lives in the unit above and though well insulated, some noise is audible between floors (not voices or music, but footsteps). We do our best to keep quiet hours between 10:00 PM and 8:30 AM. We also provide a white noise machine that isn't necessary for most guests, but is available. LAUNDRY: your own washer/dryer combo machine is located under the kitchen counter. PARKING: free street parking with no hourly limit. This is a big advantage versus staying downtown where there is a nightly parking fee. Generally there is ample parking supply just outside the apt. You will be a short walk to eclectic shops, coffee shops, bakeries, restaurants, bars, and parks...all virtually out your front door. 23 out of the top 40 restaurants in Portland (ranked by The Oregonian) are within a 10 minute drive. 11 of the top 40 are within a 5 minute drive. Whatever your reason may be for visiting Portland, my place is in an ideal geographical location and in close proximity to many of Portland's top destination spots. The apartment has great views of the city and overlooks the Burnside Bridge and Willamitte River. I like to keep my place clean with all the modern essentials of an apartment such as a Chemex, All-Clad cookware, linen sheets, and a fridge full of all sorts of hot sauces to name a few.
This studio apartment has exposed concrete in which a wall separates the living and bedroom space. There is a queen bed in the bedroom area and a futon couch in the living room area, which is surrounded by plants and terrariums. The kitchen is equipped with All-Clad cookware, Bodum french press, Bodum tea press, Chemex, Hario manual coffee grinder, cookbooks, and other items for your culinary needs. I have a water filter and drinks in the fridge that you are welcome to as well as a free range use of everything in the kitchen, including teas and Yerba Mate in the drawers. There is a washer and dryer in the apartment that you have access to. In the bathroom, I have available Kiehl's shampoo and face wash as well as local favorite from Portland's very own Maak Lab multi-use wet soap, which can be used on body, hand, face, and hair.
The apartment has great views of the city and overlooks the Burnside Bridge and Willamitte River. It is blocks away from Portland favorites like Olympia Provisions (best eggs benedicts), Ristretto Roasters, Water Avenue Coffee, Sizzle Pie, Le Pigeon, and Nong’s Khao Man Gai and Voodoo Donuts and Stumptown Coffee are just across the bridge.

Your safety is our top priority. We are following Airbnb's advanced cleaning guidelines. Magic Barn, circa 1936, former sculpture studio restored with old growth barn wood, upcycled furnishings, kitchen, claw foot bath, baby amenities, with a sculpture garden. Centrally located 3 blocks to SE Hawthorne and Division's charming restaurant and boutique district. 15 min to airport, 10 min to downtown and convention center. Rental bikes within 3 blocks, ample street parking.
Your safety is our top priority. We are following all of Airbnb's advanced cleaning protocols with love. The Magic Barn was Todji's sculpture studio for fifteen years. Most of the sculptures in the sculpture garden were sculpted right here and are exhibited for everyone to experience. The four bedroom Magic House is also available to be booked separately in conjunction with the Magic Barn to provide more space if you have a group. Please feel free with questions to see if we can accommodate the needs of your group: The Magic House Link: https://airbnb.com/h/themagichouse Cannabis is legal in Oregon. You are welcome to responsibly smoke tobacco and cannabis outside only. There are many dispensaries within walking distance. Family amenities are available upon request: portable crib, baby bath, high chair, etc. When Todji first moved into the main house as a renter, the Magic Barn was a crooked old shed with broken windows, no electricity, water or heat and was filled with trash. Todji turned it into his sculpture studio, and then purchased the house in 2004 when banks were giving loans to anyone, including self-employed artists! Todji rented rooms to other artists while restoring the old house and building his career as a fine art sculptor. Todji and Gisele painted the outside of The Magic House and Magic Barn with seven colors over three summers. During the summer of 2015 Todji designed and built the Magic Barn with the talented carpenters and fine art painters Theo Holdt and TJ Ravenwolf. The interior wood siding are salvaged old growth barn planks, and the ceiling is made of the original 1936 rafters and sheathing. Look at the outside walls to see the twist in the structure, and Gisele's beautiful painting! TJ’s painting is hanging above the couch. TJ is native American from the Alaskan tribes of Koyukon Athabaskan and Muscogee Creek. TJ collected all of the natural pigments in the painting from areas around Oregon in prayer, and his prayer in painting now graces the Magic Barn. Todji and Gisele produce public art bronze sculpture monuments for US cities which you may already have seen, or that you may see one day. Hobie is your onsite host and he He is a novelist and professional writer. He is available to both respect privacy and also assist during your stay. We support the local art community by giving cleaning and maintenance work at the Magic House to community artists. Thank you for reading our story, we hope to host you at the Magic Barn!
The Magic Barn is centrally located in one of the most charming and hip neighborhoods in Portland. With the center of both SE Hawthorne and SE Division St within 3 blocks, there is an abundance of restaurants, boutique browsing, grocery stores, neighborhood strolling, and park hiking options within walking distance. See a movie, or just step in to witness the beautiful and iconic McMenamin's Bagdad theater, accompanied by an incredible restaurant/bar/pool hall in the back called the "Back Stage Bar", at SE 37th and Hawthorne. It will give you a feel for classic Portland! We are minutes from Mt Tabor park which has a lovely forest with walking trails sitting upon a dormant volcano, and we are 45 minutes to the spectacular 600 foot tall Multnomah waterfall in the gorgeous Columbia River Gorge scenic area. Division is the new up and coming Southeast neighborhood. With lots of modern architecture, new restaurants and shops you will get a feel for the freshest vibe Portland has to offer. Here is a list to get you started: Restaurants: (The options are endless but here are a few popular favorites!) Serving Food Late - Sapphire Hotel at 50th and Hawthorne, Romantic and sexy atmosphere- great for late night drinks and gourmet bar food. Below are the names of hikes that we love and recommend. Check the website to find a hike with a distance and fitness level that suits you. For those who are visiting the gorge for the first time, I recommend visiting the most spectacular, and also the most touristicated, 600 foot Multnomah Falls. The neighborhood is extremely walkable/bikeable, and just two blocks from one of Portland's great restaurant rows, filled with unique locally owned restaurants, coffeehouses, bars, food carts, pot shops, ice cream vendors, pizza joints, clothing retailers, yoga studios and yes, even an old-school hardware store. And all of this just 15 minutes from downtown.

A quiet, cozy bedroom & a bathroom on the ground floor of a beautiful, modern new home in a verdant, friendly Southeast Portland neighborhood. Enthusiastic greeting by very friendly dogs & cat comes standard!
As a courtesy to our guests, our check-in time is 2:00 pm; however, as we both work weekdays, we cannot have the rooms ready until 5:30 or so. What this means is that our guests are welcome to make themselves at home in their living room or just drop their bags off and head out exploring, but they won't be able to rest their weary heads or hit the showers until we've had a chance to get home and tidy up. There is an entire floor available in our newish home smack-dab in the heart of fun, accessible Southeast Portland! This means that our guest(s) get not only their own quiet bedrooms, but also a private full bathroom AND their own nicely-appointed living room (please note: the first-floor living room is NOT private, as it does not have a ceiling and is the way between the front door of the house and the stairs to the second floor). We are steps away from a frequent-service bus line, a terrific ramen shop, a pizza joint, two coffee shops, and, best of all, a Trader Joe's! The house is about two miles south of the trendy Hawthorne district, one mile south of nationally-recognized Division Street, and about four miles east of downtown Portland. The house itself is a beautiful, soaring Doug Fir- and hemlock-constructed dream home decorated with one-of-kind glass art pieces and potted succulents. Our guests have access to our fabulous kitchen in addition to their own first-floor amenities. We have a very friendly housecat you will likely meet during your stay, but the guest bedroom and guest bathroom doors are kept closed for the comfort of allergen-sensitive guests. We also have two friendly dogs who will greet you eagerly upon your arrival, but who otherwise spend their time hanging out with us and don't wander much to the guest floor. Lastly, to our guests during the colder months: the guest floor tends to be the coolest in the house, and we provide space heaters and afghans for your comfort, but we figure we should let you know ahead of time that if you run cold, ours may not be the ideal place for your stay.
Our neighborhood is so great! We are really close to several cool Portland hubs, but we're on a relatively quiet residential street so we truly have the best of all worlds.

Come stay in a cozy wall tent on our gorgeous urban farmstead! You'll have access to all the facilities in the house, but the privacy and charm of a beautiful canvas wall tent. This is Portland glamping at its best. We are a small community of artists, musicians, thinkers, and all around good people. We love meeting new people and sharing our space.
The space is on a half-acre with a 1909 farmhouse as the centerpiece. We want you to feel at home to use the outdoors of the garden and comfort of the house. Nothing is off limits!
We are located in the heart of Portlands "Jade District," walking distance from dozens of the most authentic Asian food restaurants you will find. There are also excellent coffee shops adjacent to college very close by.

Covid-19 Update: While we have always had good cleaning practices we are working extra hard to insure that our cottage is clean and disinfected between each guest. Be assured, that should you chose to travel, every door handle and knob will be wiped down! City of Portland Permit # 18-175497
The guest cottage is in a quiet neighborhood in SE Portland. High ceilings make this studio airy and bright. We think of it as a perfect hotel room without the hotel. The small galley kitchen has everything you need to cook a gourmet meal. There is a full bathroom with tub and shower. Parking is available in the driveway, we leave it open for guests. The cottage stands on its own making it perfect for coming and going as you please. There is one queen sized bed, but we can put a twin mattress on the floor if you are traveling with a child. Washer and dryer are available in the main house with arrangement. The cottage is a non-smoking space.
This is a quiet neighborhood. The cottage is a mile from Woodstock which has good coffee, a bakery, fish market, some restaurants and grocery stores including New Seasons. It is four blocks from the Springwater Corridor bike path that leads to Sellwood and eventually the river and downtown. Reed College is 2 miles away through a nice neighborhood full of trees and interesting architecture.

Hello! My co-host (Mimi) and I both live here, own & manage this multi-use property. The Vic was built in 1896 & has a lot of old Portland charm. Besides having a popular Mexican food cart right out front, we are located just 2 blocks away from very popular NW 23rd Avenue where you'll find a huge variety of unique places to shop, eat, drink, be merry and people watch. Also, a bus stop is just 2 blocks away or use Uber/Lyft/car to get downtown in only 5-10 minutes.
A spacious furnished private bedroom includes a comfy queen bed, a loveseat, desk with chair, closet, fireplace, cable T.V. and clean linens. The room has a keyed deadbolt lock for your privacy.
The NW Alphabet District offers a variety of wonderful art, clothing, yoga, coffee, specialty shops, pubs, grocery stores and restaurants. Walking down NW 23rd Avenue is a great way to interact with Native Portlanders. Take NW 23rd Avenue all the way to Burnside Street (turn left-East) then pass Powells books and other sights all the way to Voodoo donuts and explore the waterfront to get an even better feel of the city.

All your childhood fort dreams have come true in this unique space. A giant hammock—perfect for relaxing underneath skylights, especially on rainy day—spans the space between two cozy lofts, accessible by ladder on one side and a space-saving staircase on the other. The S'more is full of hand-hewn details, like a dining area that folds out for extra sleep space, beautiful reclaimed wood art, a modern tiny kitchen, and so much s'more. The perfect weekend getaway in Portland.
For your safety and ours, we are now following Airbnb's Covid-19 Cleaning Guidelines. In addition to keeping the house as clean as possible for you, we will be asking guests who are staying in our back house, to take extra steps to clean before they leave. Thank you for your understanding. There are so many opportunities for relaxing fit into this small space. One loft for reading, one loft for sleeping, and an enormous hammock that spans between them, are all ready for kicking back. A breakfast table off of the kitchen area is perfect for enjoying coffee, or sit in the window dining area overlooking the beautiful back yard. The dining space converts into more sleeping space if needed, too. Handsome details are all around, with concrete countertops, custom-designed flooring, and beautiful reclaimed wood art. Let the S'more inspire you to live creatively in a small space. All your childhood fort dreams have come true in this unique space. We are the gateway to hiking and visiting the Columbia Gorge, as well as all of Portland. Generally speaking, our place is about 15 minutes from anywhere you want to be in Portland. We are also an easy shot to and from the airport.

Stay in a lovely remodeled basement apt within a 1905 home in the Historic Irvington area! Suite includes: 1 bd (queen), 1 ba, living room (with full-sized ikea sofa sleeper) and kitchette/laundry room. Walkscore 87, public transit 71 and biking 98! All are welcome. This unit is a great fit for those out and about during the day, but who want a quiet place to come home to at night! Due to COVID-19, we’re also taking extra care to disinfect frequently touched surfaces between reservations.
The lovely basement level 1 bd/ba suite is fully permitted with the City of Portland! Pros: -Completely private due to the separate entrance and zero shared common areas. -Ample parking. -Beautiful tree lined streets and historic homes. -Blackout curtains in the bedroom. -More space than a single room. -We sleep two floors up, so noise at night isn’t an issue. -Walking distance to cafes, restaurants and grocery stores! -We are also walking distance to the Convention Center (~15 min) and the Moda Center (20 min). -Central location means low fares for taxis. Biking/walking is a great option too. -Self check-in using electronic code operated entry will give you added flexibility to arrive at any time. -Responsive and welcoming hosts. :-) Cons: -Not the best for daytime occupation due to the potential for sound transfer from above. If I were planning on napping during the day, I’d consider a quieter option. -Low ceilings make it less accessible for tall folks. I’m 5’8 and never need to duck throughout the basement suite. Not recommended for those over 6 ft. -Our kitchen is above your bedroom. There is extra-soundproofing throughout the suite, but sight creaking may be audible from above as early as 7:00 am. -We are near downtown and public transportation, but please also realize Portland struggles with homelessness like many large cities. It isn’t as visible in the Irvington neighborhood, but upon leaving the neighborhood to access public transportation on arterial streets, you may see a homeless individual. They are not aggressive and we’ve had no complaints of negative encounters since we started operating in 2014. -The floor in the living room has a slight depression due to settling of the foundation in this historic 1905 home.
We are on the edge of the Irvington neighborhood which is formally registered as historic and 'amazing' (not really the latter). All the homes within the Irvington area itself, with a few exceptions, date from the early 1900s or late 1800s. We are a ~15 minute walk to the Oregon Convention Center and have had many guests stay attend events and avoid renting a car. It is very centrally located. Our guests are able to walk to the streetcar stop which can take you to the Pearl District in Downtown Portland. We are biking distance to almost all the "fun" neighborhoods such as the Alberta Arts, Mississippi and Hawthorne districts. There are cafes, restaurants and a non-profit brewery all within a 15 minute walking radius.

Airbnb in Portland: This Airbnb is permitted by the city under the following condition: The law states “Hosts with an accessory short-term rental permit are required to occupy the residence for at least 270 days during each calendar year.” This Airbnb is completely private to the guests. The basement is a completely separate private unit in compliance with city law. Any short term rental not operating in this manner with a host onsite is operating illegally. ZERO MUSIC - AT ALL - AFTER 9PM The first time you get a knock on the door after 9pm to turn the music off, a $10 charge. The second knock on the door after 9pm, $50 charge. There will not be a third knock, just a call to the police. Checking in: (after 3pm) - extra beds: the couch can sleep 2 and there is an air mattress in the closet of the bedroom that is off the kitchen - regular updates on etas and departures are very helpful Checking out: (before 11am) - DO NOT REMOVE BED LINENS - Place used towels in hampers in bathroom. - REMEMBER to look around for forgotten items Wifi: Dottyswifi password: Mostesthostess Neighbors and ZERO MUSIC - AT ALL - AFTER 9PM: The house is only available as an airbnb through the kindness of our neighbors. There is only five feet between the houses. We want you to have fun, but the risk in noise complaints from the neighbors is a major concern and a threat to Dotty’s survival as an airbnb. Don't be the one that ruins it for everybody else. This is a working class neighborhood and folks like their peace and quiet. Pets: an additional $20 dollar one time pet fee per stay. NO CLEANING FEE HOME: There is no daily cleaning service. And also no cleaning fee. This is so that the first price you see in the app is the final price you pay(minus taxes and airbnb fees). Guests are therefore expected to make some attempt at restoring the place to the state they found it. Ask and ye shall receive if the lawn needs a mow, help starting sauna, or other concerns. Please take that sentiment into account in your review. Many people appreciate seeing food in the fridge. The host believes in the sharing economy still and hopes you share that belief. Waste not want not. This is Portland. Be glad the house doesn’t have compost. We are diy and solar powered. It is only an airbnb 15 days a month when the host is not a single parent. Pets: an additional $20 dollar one time pet fee per stay. Dotty’s Towel Policy: with a hot tub providing so much fun for her guests Dotty’s towels tend to get used up quickly. If you can please limit towel use to one per guest per stay. Management knows this isn’t always realistic for people staying more than one or two nights, but fewer exceptions the better. Dotty’s host will leave as many clean towels as possible. Dotty’s Hot Tub and Sauna: HOT TUB CANNOT BE ON AT SAME TIME AS SAUNA! HOT TUB: (default is to leave hot tub switch ON) REPLACE COVER WHEN FINISHED take a towel with you on your way to the hot tub the spa, especially in summer, will switch to Ec(Economy) mode and the temp will be lower. To get maximum heat, switch it back to St(Standard) mode by holding the “Temp” and “Light” buttons at the same time. It will cycle through Ec, St, and Sl. Make sure to leave it on St. This will ensure maximum heat. - dripping all over the house with wet suits on is a bit of a mess, and it is a private deck by the hot tub so it is preferred that you change outside after using the tub before coming back in, knowing of course that can’t always happen for everyone. SAUNA: Many Americans are unfamiliar with sauna, please don’t be intimidated. It is incredibly good for your mind and body, leaving you truly clean and relaxed TO USE SAUNA: -Turn OFF the lower HOT TUB(white) breaker- at panel near hot tub - Turn ON the upper SAUNA(black) breaker. Inside the sauna, turn the right timer dial on the sauna stove past 1oclock (you will hear a ‘ka-chunk’). Turn the timer left just a little bit towards 0. Second ‘ka-chunk’ means it’s heating and the timer is counting down. It takes at least 45 mins to heat up. After the timer hits 0 it will ka-chunk and turn off. Repeat above process for longer sauna 1hr at a time. There is an electric candle for a nice peaceful light. Fill up water buckets and throw water on the rocks. Jump in the cold soak - hose nearby. Enjoy! DO NOT FORGET: TURN OFF SAUNA DIAL IN SAUNA WHEN DONE Turn HOT TUB breaker to ON WHEN SAUNA DIAL HAS BEEN TURNED OFF Cars, trains, bikes: Public bikes(orange Biketown bike) are for rent at 21st and Clinton, a few blocks away. They can be rented very cheaply hourly and only $12 for the whole day. Uber or Lyft is never more than 5 mins away. You can catch the 4 on division to downtown, or take Max orange line train at 12th and clinton to downtown Groceries: New Seasons (20th and Division) is like a local Whole Foods, everything an educated food consumer could ever want. New Seasons hot food bar and salad bar is the cheapest, easiest way to feed yourself when you’re needing something quick. Safeway is at 27th and Hawthorne if you want all the mainstream brands. Fred Meyer( 39th and Hawthorne )offers everything under the sun, like a local Target. Restaurants: (^ = walkable, * = personal favorite) This would take way too long to really do justice. The best thing about Portland is that it’s incredibly easy to find truly excellent food. RESTAURANTS BY MEAL: Dollar oysters at Jacqueline Clinton & 21st, 5-7 M-S. Get there early. Breakfast: ^*Pine State Biscuits, ^Genies Lunch: ^*New Seasons, the food carts at 12th and Hawthorne(Chicken n Guns personal favorite) , ^*The Baker’s Mark Dinner: ^*Pok Pok, ^*Teote, ^Bollywood Theater Pizza: The 7 dollar carryout special from ^Dominos. ^*Hammy’s ^*BlackBird Pizza, *Hotlips, ^* Scotties. ^* The food carts at 11th and Hawthorne(Hawthorne Asylum) But really pick a place blindly on the map and you are likely to not be disappointed. Portland has the most restaurants and bars per capita in the US. And The Washington Post just named Portland the best food city in the US. Bars and Breweries: ^Apex, ^*Beermongers, ^*Nightlight, ^*Dots, ^*Clinton St. Pub, ^Double Barrel, *Gigantic, *Hair of the Dog. Portland has more breweries than any other city in the world. Dotty’s TV: The comcast remote controls everything. Select “TV input” to change input. DVR and on demand and Netflix under Xfintity > Apps. Parking: You can pretty much always find parking within the block, Dotty has actually never seen anyone towed. Dotty doesn’t miss having a driveway. Safety: Portland has a much lower crime rate than similar American cities of its size. Even though there are a lot of homeless, they are generally survivalists and not criminals. You can expect to see them struggling to find their way. But despite the high homeless population, this is a safe neighborhood with expensive homes and well tended gardens. Lastly, Dotty says: “Go out there and Embody Your Amazing!!! -or relax, lounge on the deck, and find some peace and tranquility. Dotty loves to help but loves a good nap too

Enjoy Portland by staying a little out-of-the-way at a reasonable price! Located in the upper northwest part of Portland in the St. Johns neighborhood. Quiet, clean, convenient, safe. Easy access to I-5. About 20 minutes from PDX and Downtown.
You'll have privacy in your own bedroom and bath. The room is fairly spacious and features a good sized closet. The room is on the second floor and there are 2 flights of stairs to climb to get to it. There are privacy lock on both the bedroom and bath doors. I am currently sanitizing common area surfaces daily. In preparation for each new guest I thoroughly clean the room and bath. I try to observe COVID-19 protocols including social distancing during your stay.
Historic St. Johns is just one of the many charming neighborhoods of Portland. We are situated on the penninsula between the Willamette and Columbia Rivers. See my Guidebook for a list of businesses near the house.
