There is a separate entrance outside and a locked entrance inside. The unit is accessed from the back yard and has a small deck directly outside the door. There is a gate right next to the detached garage to enter.

While the space is connected to my main house, it is separate enough that it feels like it's own apartment. There is a locking slatted door in between the space and my main house.
