Local Restaurants and Restaurants Further Afield

Here are a few of my favourite local and not so local restaurants in London for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Close to Addison Gardens. Opened in 1996 the Havelock Tavern is one of London's original gastro pubs. Unlike many others that have come and gone since, it has changed very little over that time. Rather than become a restaurant in an old pub building, we focus on being a pub that serves really good food. The atmosphere is lively and informal so that anyone can eat, drink and feel at home. We now take bookings for a limited area of the pub. We are not trying to be sophisticated, but aim to provide you with a good, relaxing time.

Great Lebanese restaurant in Kensington. Good to go for a walk in Hyde Park over the road, then back for a pint at the Elephant and Castle pub on Holland Street down the road. Finish it all off with some lovely middle eastern food at Maroush.

Proof that some of the bars near Shepherd's Bush are some of the best in the business, Smith's is a cocktail bar that promises only the finest of libations. Not only boasting luxe and vintage inspired interiors, their cocktail selection is awash with classics and creative mixes combined.

If wine is more your style, you can’t get better than Albertine, a tiny, unassuming, candle-lit wine bar tucked just off the main thoroughfare. It opened in 1978 and boasts over 130 global wines on its menu. The bottles are sold at take-home prices, but 40 can also be ordered by the glass. Closely-packed wooden furniture and low-key lighting give an intimate, Parisian feel, and there’s an extensive list of cheeses and other titbits like mini chorizo to be paired with the wines. If you’re after something more substantial, they also serve mains, with classics such as fish pie and wild boar sausages and mash on offer.

If you fancy a long walk then head to this North London wild heathland. It's easily reached via Shepherds Bush overland station. The journey takes 20 minutes and costs only £1.50. Handsome Georgian Kenwood House and estate is located at the north end of the heath and is well worth a visit.
