Situated on a working farm a mile from the town of Selkirk makes Highfield an ideal base to explore. Highfield commands an elevated position giving panoramic views of Selkirk and the surrounding hills. Situated on The Borders Abbey Way there is easy access to excellent walking and cycling routes. For the more adventurous we are a short drive to great mountain biking routes at Innerleithen and Peebles. Melrose & Tweedbank railway station is a 10 min drive, Edinburgh is just under an hour away.

The Flat

Comfortably furnished with everything you need for a few days or a month away, the flat is an ideal base for exploring the Scottish borders. Within easy walking distance of local pubs, restaurants and shops. The flat is a five min walk to Galashiels Interchange where trains run hourly into Edinburgh. All bedding, towels and toiletries. Mary Queen of Scot's chamber at Neidpath Castle is perhaps the most romantic place to stay in the Scottish Borders. Explore privately the whole castle and then retire to enjoy your suite rooms. The antique four poster bed, deep roll top bath and open fire evoke earlier times, but are truly comfortable and luxurious. An elegant table is set for breakfast. Peebles is 10 minutes walk away, with a host of shops and restaurants, as well as a museum and award winning chocolatier.

My place, close to transport links, is a perfect base for country or city. The flat, originally a 1920’s bungalow, is in the downstairs part of the house separated by a locked door and we live in the upstairs part of the house. We’re in the heart of the historic Scottish Borders with beautiful Edinburgh only 50 minutes away by train. Why not relax with a glass of wine in the private garden, jacuzzi bath or snooker room or curl up on the window seat with a good book.

The Great Hall, Dollarbeg Castle

This 2 bedroom apartment is the beautifully converted former Great Hall of Dollarbeg Castle. Built in 1890, Dollarbeg Castle was the last gothic baronial style building of its type ever built. Beautifully restored in 2007 to the very highest standards, it was converted into 10 luxury properties, one of which is a conversion of the original "Great Hall" with its vaulted ceiling and majestic views across the formal grounds towards the Ochil Hills in the distance.
