Cob Cottage

Channel the pursuit of pause in this one-of-a-kind earth house. The cozy retreat was hand-sculpted using local and sustainable natural materials, and features a central living space with cantilevered slab stairs leading to the loft bedroom. Guests have access to the entire cottage and surrounding property. We live in the neighbouring house, and are happy to give advice or answer questions to help you make the most of your stay. The neighborhood is quite rural and mostly agricultural with several farms and a small private vineyard. The home is a 10 minute walk from the beach and a 20 minute walk from a family grocery and deli specializing in local organic produce. Mayne Island has a small community bus. Times and routes are limited, particularly in the winter. It will stop at the driveway. We also have an official hitch hiking system with signed Car Stops where you can wait for a ride. Usually you don't have to wait long. We are happy to offer pickup and drop off at the ferry dock as a courtesy to encourage car-free travellers, on days when the community bus is not running. Please let us know ahead of time that you'll be coming without your own transportation, and we will make sure that either we or the community bus (which will drop you off at our driveway) are there to meet you when your ferry arrives. The BC Ferries terminals near Victoria and Vancouver are easily reachable via public transit from their respective airports and downtowns.

This is a unique 3 bed, 2 bath Cordwood Suite with a central partial kitchenette / dining area (think private side of a duplex). Stunning forest and mountain views, 10mins from Nelson, yet feels completely secluded. Perched on our 40acre Morning Mountain property, it is part of a community of 5 off-grid homes powered by MicroHydro on Sandy Creek. Have a large group in the Spring/Summer? Book in tandem with the Cordwood Home South, next door, for an extra 5 beds, 1 bath, laundry, & full kitchen!

Dome 1

Dome 1 is a light spacious cottage with an open living space and a large shower room. The kitchen is well equipped for your stay and we also provide freshly ground Oso Negro coffee beans and a selection of teas. The outside patio is a good size and surrounded by shrubs and fragrant lavenders. The domes are dog-friendly and we charge $18 per dog per night, with a maximum of two dogs. See 'house rules' for further information. Please let us know ahead of time if you intend to bring your dog/s.

Cozy Eco Cabin - Off Grid - Connected to Nature

Beautiful rustic off-grid straw bale cabin surrounded by unspoiled nature and working ranch lands, located between Calgary and Canmore. Running water May-Oct, wood stove and old-fashioned outhouse. Cozy and simple with all the comforts you need. We lived in this little cabin with two toddlers for over a year while we built our house and it has everything you need to be comfortable. It is magical in the winter. Fun fact: A full length feature film was recently filmed here!
