In this online experience, I start by sharing about my meditation practice. Next, we’ll do two types of meditation together.
First is a chanting mantra for 20 minutes. This type of meditation allows you to go deep into your practice. Next we will do a 10-minute breathing-out meditation. Afterwards, you’ll share your questions and reflections on the practice.
I am also happy to offer other meditations, such as meditation with a candle or mirror, Qigong, Sutra copying, and counting meditation, one of the basic Zen practices.

I've been a Buddhist monk for nearly 20 years. I worked in Shitennoji Temple for 12 years as a monk, doing zen meditation. I have been doing guided meditations for Airbnb guests for five years, welcoming nearly 4,000 guests.

I attended a meditation hosted by Kuniatsu on 2/21/21. He is very personable and humorous and described the benefits of chanting meditation and breath work. I really enjoyed the chanting, once I got used to it and the breathe work calmed me down. It is a unique experience to connect with a Buddhist monk and to chant with people from all over. Kuniatsu provides a rare moment of connection during a time seriously lacking in spiritual or emotional nourishment. Well done.

I was worried that I would come off as a meditation novice and I needed to be an expert to join this online class but it was completely the opposite. Coonie's humour and calm presence put me at ease and there was no worry about feeling like a meditation beginner. I had never done chanting before so it was also a new experience for me. It was a nice reminder to hear about someone else's life in another part of the world. Taking this class remotely from my room, felt that much less claustrophobic and I felt as if I had transported myself to Japan. I will be taking the techniques I have learned and applying them to my daily life.

Kuniatsu is kind, humorous and very good at guiding guests during the meditation. He makes you feel comfortable and at ease. Overall I really enjoyed this meditation practice and would recommend it as a gift for yourself or a special person. I felt much better afterwards, and it’s a good idea to try it if you are feeling stressed or simply to reclaim some of your time in our hectic lives.
